Overview
ChatGPT Prompt Library ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you save, organize, and insert prompts directly inside ChatGPT. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
TL;DR: Your prompts and folders are stored locally in your own browser using Chrome's built-in sync storage. We never read, sell, or share your prompt content with anyone.
Data We Collect
Stored in your browser (chrome.storage.sync):
- Your prompts and folder names — stored entirely in Chrome's sync storage, synced across your own devices via your Google account
- Your license tier (free or basic) and license key — used to unlock paid features
- Your theme preference (dark / light mode)
- Date of last license validation
Sent to our server during license validation:
- Your license key — sent to our validation API to confirm it is active. No other data is transmitted.
We do not collect:
- Your prompt content
- Your ChatGPT conversations
- Your name, email, or account information (unless you purchase a license)
- Browsing history or any other tab data
- Analytics or usage telemetry
How We Use Your Data
- License keys are validated against our backend once per day to confirm your subscription is active
- If you purchase a Basic plan, your email address is used solely to deliver your license key via email
- No data is used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties — ever
Third-Party Services
The Extension and its backend rely on the following third-party services:
- Vercel — hosts our API and website. Vercel Privacy Policy
- Upstash Redis — stores license key records (key hash + activation status only). Upstash Privacy Policy
- DodoPayments — processes payments. We never see or store your card details. DodoPayments Privacy Policy
Data Storage & Security
- All prompt data lives in
chrome.storage.sync— it is controlled by Chrome and your Google account, not by us - License keys stored in Upstash are hashed and never stored in plaintext
- All API communication is over HTTPS
Permissions
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — to save your prompts and settings locally in your browser
- host permission for chatgpt.com — to inject the sidebar UI into the ChatGPT interface
- host permission for our API — to validate your license key
No other permissions are requested. We do not access any other websites or tabs.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
